The ability for myself to customize the site was possible with the old template but that would take too much of my time. When I decided to select blogger versus wordpress or designing my own site, blogger was selected for ease pretty much. With these new features I can focus on the blogging and still change tons of the features. Customization is now really possible and hence my selection was made for me.
